January 1, Sunday - Antarctica

Another sunny day in Antarctica.  Antarctica averages 30 to 35 days of sunny days a year. We had 3 and a half of them .  We have been amazingly fortunate.

The area we are cruising isn't quite as icy and dramatic.  There is a lot more exposed rock.  However, it is still pretty awesome.

And some clouds were beginning to come in...so looks like there will be a change in the weather here.

We saw a whale.

More really huge icebergs, some that were bigger than the ship...

One of the large icebergs had a number of penguins high up on the top.  They were clustered around a "pond" on the berg.  Beautiful turquoise color.

Plus we saw another penguin rookery with thousands of penguins.

This was our path in Antarctica through most of today, with another day tomorrow to go.
